In your opinion, what progress has been made in implementing the “Strategy of railway transport expansion till 2013”? What is Group PKP’s position on European markets?

“LOT is a company operating on an open and competitive market and it has to create economic value for shareholders. LOT has to be a profitable business. A positive audit report is expected in 2010 and later we want to earn substantial profits. There is no other way to manage an airline than focusing on its profitability,” says DARIUSZ NOWAK, President and Chief Executive Officer at LOT Polish Airlines.

An important factor in economic cooperation is cooperation with one’s partners. It should be evident also in relations between the European Union and the East. Polish Market talks to Mr. Zbigniew Tracichleb, President and General Director at LHS Sp. z o.o. which manages a wide-gauge railway line running from southern Poland deep into Russia and the Far East. This railway line, as distinct from standard European gauge lines, enables easy access of bulk goods to eastern markets.

The Jastrzębie Rail Company Ltd (Jastrzębska Spółka Kolejowa Sp. z o.o., JSK) operates railway junctions and sidings in the mines Borynia, Zofiówka, Pniówek, Krupiński and Jas-Mos, as well as the reload station PZO Pawłowice Górnicze.
