Polish oil companies plan upstream off Norway

Poland’s two major oil companies Lotos and PGNiG have approached the Norwegian government to issue licenses to extract natural gas and oil in the Norwegian and Barents seas, ‘Puls Biznesu’ daily reports. Lotos and PGNiG are among 46 companies that filed their applications with Norway's Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. The Ministry aims to award new licenses early next year. >>

Polish second largest refinery LOTOS posts good financial results

Polish refinery Lotos Group has published its financial results for 9 months and for Q3 2008. Its net profit cumulatively Q1-Q3 (Jan 1 – Sep 30) has amounted to PLN 477.9 million. The consolidated income from sales revenues in Q3 amounted to PLN 4,764.2 million which is a 35% increase as compared to the respective period of last year. According to analysts this growth is connected with the hike in prices of refined products on global markets and increased sales. >>
