The Polish-American Chamber of Commerce, the British-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Loginet Media have held a press conference ‘Will business win the EURO 2012?’. The debate took place in Warsaw on October 23. It was attended by Mirosław Drzewiecki, Polish Minister of Sports and Tourism, Marcin Herra, president of PL2012, Witold Orłowski, consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers Polska and Adrian Furgalski, director at the Transport Consultants Group TOR.

The level of Poland’s readiness to host Euro 2012 football championship was the focus of a UEFA meeting in late September. The press extensively reports that both Poland and Ukraine face major infrastructure problems which include the lack of properly-sized sports stadiums, while road and railway construction is lagging behind. Another meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee is held in Bordeaux, France, on Thursday and Friday to review hosting arrangements for EURO 2012. Poland and Ukraine are to jointly host the event.

Polish Minister of Sport Mirosław Drzewiecki has said upon returning from the Olympic Games held in Beijing that Chinese companies are keen on investing in Poland in the infrastructure it needs for Euro 2012 football championship to be co-hosted with Ukraine. The planned investment projects include sports stadiums, motorways, hotels, airport facilities and train networks, as well as other large-scale infrastructure needed for the event. He added Chinese firms offer prices up to 50% lower than the existing bidders.

Michel Platini President of the UEFA, the European football governing body, has arrived in Poland to evaluate the stage of preparations for EURO 2012.
