
Polish cinema posters on show in Warsaw Old Town

Posters for over 100 most famous Polish movies produced over the last century by world-acclaimed directors like Andrzej Wajda and Krzysztof Kieślowski are on display at an outdoor exhibition on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street in Warsaw till July 17.

Heineken Open’er Festival 2009
The Heineken Open’er Festival kicks off tomorrow on an airfield near Gdynia on the Baltic coast. Held for the 8th time the Festival will last until Sunday.

100 renowned cantors form the US, Israel and other countries are to perform at the National Opera in Warsaw on June 30. They will be accompanied by the National Opera Choir and Orchestra and Alla Polacca Children’s Choir.

Henryk Mikołaj Górecki – 3rd Symphony of Sorrowful Songs – National Centre for Culture & Lipinski Royal Fidelity – Blu-ray Disc (HD audio-video).
The world premiere of a breakthrough album in modern symphonic music – the 3rd Symphony by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki – one of the best known works by a Polish composer internationally - in the Blu-ray format. The album was released as part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of WWII and the 20th anniversary of Poland regaining independence.
Warsaw and jazz

The 15th edition of the International Open-air Jazz in the Old Town festival will be inaugurated in Warsaw on July 4.

The spirit of Woodstock is kept alive by Jerzy Owsiak – the founder of Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity and organizer of Stop: Woodstock. It is a rock concert held as a thank you to young Polish people for participating in the annual charity fund raising drive which finances giant health care projects for children each year.

The National Museum in Krakow – The Main Building, al. 3 Maja 1
An exhibition entitled ‘American Dream’ organized to mark the 90th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Poland and the U.S. is to be held at the National Museum in Krakow July 2-October 4. It is designed as an artistic and educational event.
Polish connections

An exhibition entitled ‘Polish connections’ is on at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London. It features a collection commissioned by Poland’s last king Stanislas August Poniatowski in the late 19th century. The show is to last until September 27.

A collection of paintings, drawings and graphics once belonging to Art-B – a company involved in one of the biggest scams in the early 1990s – has gone on show at the National Museum in Warsaw. It was deposited at the museum by the National Bank of Poland. The exhibition lasts until July 12. More works from the collection are scheduled to be exhibited in the autumn.
