
Four Polish cities confirmed as Euro 2012 sites
Four Polish cities: Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan and Wroclaw have been confirmed by UEFAas venues that will host Euro 2012 football championship games. However, Ukraine’s hopes for co-hosting the championship on an equal footing with Poland were dashed when UEFA only approved the capital Kyiv.

G5 for closer cooperation between cities and government
Marcin Herra, President of PL.2012, has told the Polish Press Agency that the establishment of the G5 group composed of the host cities responsible for the organization of EURO 2012 Championship and representatives of the government is a form of tightening the co-operation.

The Rzeszów-based division of the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA) has announced a tender for the construction of two sections of the A4 Tarnów-Rzeszów highway totaling 64 km: the Krzyż junction - Dębica Pustynia junction section and the Dębica Pustynia junction - Rzeszów Zachodni junction section.

The Polish Minister of Sport has guaranteed that no expenses related to preparations to EURO 2012 will be cut down. "Regarding Euro 2012 all the investments that are extremely important and require strict discipline when it comes to schedules and finances, have the funds guaranteed", Drzewiecki told Polsat News.

Polish Minister of Sports and Tourism Miroslaw Drzewiecki told a discussion panel in Warsaw devoted preparations for Euro 2012 that he believes in the success of the project. He said that preparations are being made according the plan, in line with the assessment of the status of the works by UEFA's Executive Committee which on 13 May took its final decision to nominate four Polish cities to be the host cities for Euro 2012 tournament matches.

Preparatory work has got underway for the placing of foundations in Gdańsk stadium for the Euro 2012 Championship. The stadium is scheduled for completion in January 2011.

What is described as the most difficult stage of the modernisation of the Municipal Stadium in the mid-western city of Poznań - roof construction has got underway. Sports activities on the pitch are therefore suspended for a period of four months. The main bearing structure of four trusses weighing nearly 4,000 tones will rest on supporting shanks which are now embedded in the corners of the stands. The trusses will be lifted using specialist equipment and temporary towers will be erected to facilitate the installation.

A consortium of Hydrobudowa and Alpine has started the construction of a platform of the stadium’s VIP section, the first stage in the implementation of the Gdansk Arena stadium on the Baltic coast. Drainage work this sector wascommenced.
