2008-06-09
Czeladź spreads over 1,640 hectares in the northeastern part of Śląskie province (Silesia), in what is known as the Katowice Agglomeration or Upper-Silesian Industrial Basin. The 34,000-strong city is Upper Silesia’s oldest urban centre and one of the earliest on Polish territory (first mentioned under its present name in 1228).
REKLAMA

Czeladż authorities base their government on an urban development strategy planned until 2015. The Czeladź Urban Development Strategy Until 2015 is designed to sustain growth, promote enterprise and help the city draw foreign investment.

Most mentionsworthy among Czeladź’s investment assets are excellent communication and transport – Czeladź is well-located in the centre of the Katowice Agglomeration near the DK86 (Warsaw-Katowice) and DK94 (Kraków-Wrocław) highways, an abundance on investment terrain, including large communal developments near regional and inland roads, and, last but not least, the Eastern Economic Zone with one of Poland’s biggest trade centres, M1. Numerous trade and service companies have opened in the area over the past decade, the most recent project is the Alliance Silesia Logistic Centre, to cover more than 20 hectares. Another important project is a “park&ride” parking on the Katowice city limits, which will bring a convenient road connection between downtown Katowice and Czeladź. This will not only ensure easier access to main communication routes like the A1 and A4 and the Katowice intercity road, but will also raise investment conditions in Czeladź. Next to the park&ride car park will be a big trade and service centre, which will also provide multiple investment openings.

Czeladź authorities also plan to make use of the enormous investment potential in the nearby Saturn pit, Poland’s only nearly-intact black coal mine The old mine buildings will house a utility art college, next to it will be a so-called enterprise incubator offering work for its graduates. Also planned are an art gallery, a mining skansen, clubs, cafés and conference rooms. The project is expected to turn the Saturn mine into a major regional culture centre.

Czeladź looks back on a several-century history, best visible in the town’s freshly-renovated Old Town Quarter where tourists can sit down and rest. In coming years this quarter promises to develop to a really bustling tourist venue.

So do come to Czeladź – we’re on the right track
