Marek Kłoczko, the secretary general of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and vice-chairman of the “Polish Quality Award” Committee said that these days simply improving and bettering things is no longer enough to score success in face of the ever more fierce competition on the global market. What is indispensable is TQM (Total Quality Management) focusing efforts on improving the quality of each aspect of a company’s functioning. TQM entails not only improving the quality standard of goods and services, but also that of work performance, technologies, processes, procedures, marketing and decision-taking methods, management of knowledge and resources as well as anything else that is designed to meet the needs and expectations of clients and partners.
This complex set of prerequisites was fulfilled in the latest, 13th edition of the Polish Quality Award by several companies. The main prize in the category of small service companies went to the Jastrzębska Spółka Kolejowa (Jastrzębie Railway Company), a rail track operator widely acclaimed for its performance quality.
”We feel distinguished and are very happy to have received the award”, says Bronisław Borski, the President of the Company’s Management Board and its CEO. “The award is proof of recognition that we have been working well. That is to a great extent also due to the fact that our employees identify themselves with the company. Their commitment accounts for our success.
The criterion that we regard as the most important one to assess our performance consists of customers’ satisfaction. We are bent on ensuring customers professional and reliable service in accessing rail tracks. It has always been important for us to learn and fulfil customers’ requirements as well as to assure such service quality which they expect and aspire to. Self-improvement and betterment is also high on our agenda.”
The Jastrzębska Spółka Kolejowa Co Ltd has been operating since 1998. It owns premises and plants contributed by its sole shareholder – the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (Jastrzębie Coal Company), Apart from offering access to its rail tracks and infrastructure, the company carries out a number of other tasks, including railway construction works, infrastructure maintenance, forwarding services as well as running training courses for railway services staff.
