“GP”: Gamblers to co-finance EURO 2012

According to a gambling act proposed by the Polish Finance Ministry a new tax will be levied on each gambling game to be channelled into the construction of sports stadiums for EURO 2012, ‘Gazeta Prawna’ informs.

Jacek Kapica, deputy Finance Minister told the newspaper the fees were introduced to the amendment project on the request of the Minister of Sport. The 10% fees are expected to be obligatory until 2015.
According to Kapica this extra cost should not cause any drop in gambling’s popularity. ‘Gazeta Prawna’ also quotes the Minister of Finance as saying the works on upgrading the gambling taxation system in Poland are to start next year.
