Magdalena Pasierska is the pure, emotional voice. Zgas is a human beatbox, changing completely the meaning of traditional hip-hop beatbox style. Michał Majeran, surrounded by equipment, uses his bass voice as a background for the others. He uses all sorts of bizzarre effects, including Alessis AirFx which he operates without touching, just in the air.
The music is a fresh mixture of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ethno, Rock, Blues, Reggae and Classical style.
Pasierska is a self-taught singer and the founder of MMAI. Zgas has a strong background in the hip-hop culture. He also is the Polish human beatbox champion. Michał Majeran is an opera singer and alumnus of the Royal College of Music in London, he is interested in various musical genres.
MMAI music brings to mind strong associations with the legendary Polish jazz vocal group – NOVI SINGERS. Between 1965 and 1985 NOVI -New Original Vocal Instruments were a unique showcase of Polish jazz music. Both groups stun audiences by creating mesmerizing sounds using only their mouths. The passion for improvisation, novel ways of using the human voice and pure joy of singing are also the distinctive features of MMAI.
