Low-cost airlines revamp schedule

Two of the largest airlines providing low fare flights to and from Poland are to rearrange their schedules, TVN24 reports. Wizz Air is to launch new links out of the city of Gdańsk in northern Poland. The new route will operate between Gdańsk and Rome twice a week starting October 28.

Wizz Air is likely to take over passengers of another no frills airline –Centralwings.
Centralwings, part of the Polish flag air carrier PLL LOT, has suspended its scheduled flights to focus on charter flights. "By the end of October we will shut down existing low-cost flights due to the difficult situation, debts from the previous periods, strong competition and the winter season with a slow down on the main low-cost markets," Centralwings CEO Tomasz Szymczak is quoted as saying by interfax.com.
Wizz Air was established in 2003 in Hungary. It mainly operates Airbus A320 craft. Wizz Air has 9 operational bases in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Ukraine. The airline carried over 5 million passengers in the last 12 months.
