‘Faust’ by Robert Wilson
The premiere of ‘Faust’ by Robert Wilson takes place at the Grand Theatre-National Opera in Warsaw on October 26. Robert Wilson is considered to be one of the most outstanding and foremost vanguard stage directors.

The cast features: Marcello Bedoni, José Luis Sola (Faust), Vladimir Baykov, Przemysław Firek (Mefisto), Adam Kruszewski, Artur Ruciński (Walenty), Ewa Biegas, Anna Chierichetti (Małgorzata). The National Opera Choir and Orchestra will be conducted by Gabriel Chmura.

‘Faust’ the opera was written by Charles Godunov based on the drama by Johann Wolfgang Goethe. It was first staged in Poland on March 6, 1865 in the Grand Theatre. This year’s performance was directed by Wilson within the cycle of events commemorating the 200th anniversary of the publication of Goethe’s oeuvre. Wilson’s staging concept was to ‘make the music hearable’.

Waldemar Dąbrowski, National Opera’s new director considers ‘Faust’ to be one of the most significant artistic events of this season.
