Invest in Toruń

Toruń covers an area of 116 sq.m. with a population of 200,000 people. The city is one of the fastest developing in Poland with a growing number of investors. There are more than 25,000 registered businesses in Toruń, of which there are 100 companies with foreign capital. Logistics centres established by large companies and national warehouse centres are located here.

The city’s most important attributes include its geographic location, high quality of its workforce, good technical infrastructure and most importantly, congenial social climate for investment, irrespective of the investor’s country of origin.



In recent years, the city invested about PLN700 million in technical infrastructure, while in 2008 alone the borough planned PLN235 million for investments in its budget. Toruń will spend more than PLN111million on road revitalisation this year. The bulk of the allocated funds will go towards the continuation of modernising the water and sewerage system and on investments to develop education, tourism and sport.



Toruń welcomes all initiatives associated with the cultural and tourism sectors, especially hotel and trade and services branches, as well as high technology industries that are environmentally friendly. Toruń is also an educational hub and a leading academic centre where about 40,000 students study at five universities.



The Borough of Toruń received many awards, predominantly in the area of environment protection, the economy and in the use of European Union funds, including “Patron of Polish Ecology”, “Golden Sites”, and the European Ecological Award “Environment Friendly”. Additionally, since 25 October 2006, the city is in the Green Lungs of Poland zone, which is proof of the good quality of its environment and natural habitat and is in keeping with the principles of sustainable development.

In 2008 the Borough of Toruń was awarded the prestigious and well-known promotional emblem “Teraz Polska” (Poland Now). In the same year, the Borough of Toruń also received a gold award in the city category at the International Water Symposium in Cannes for its modern water and sewerage system and the construction of a biological sewerage treatment plant.



In recognition of the fact that it is an investor friendly city, Toruń won the title “Community Fair Play 2008” during the 7th competition organised by the Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy. Toruń also received the certificate and promotional emblem “Community Fair Play” – Certified Investment Location.



The Borough’s many investments, business undertakings and international contacts, make Toruń a modern and important city centre in the region, and it is also the most dynamically developing Polish city in the areas of the economy and tourism.
