Growth in exports and imports slows
According to GUS, in the first half of the year imports grew faster than exports, leading to a deterioration of Poland’s trade balance with most partners, particularly developing countries and Central and Eastern Europe. As last year, Poland had a positive balance in its trade with developed countries and negative balances with other partners.
Central Statistical Office (GUS): In the first half of the year, with a lower terms of trade index than last year, growth in imports outpaced growth in exports. The negative balance worsened compared to that recorded a year before. The share of investment and consumer goods imports went up and the share of intermediate goods imports declined.
