Central Mining Institute
The Central Mining Institute (GIG) is a research and development institution operating within the Ministry of the Economy. It works not just for the mining industry but also for other sectors, including SMEs and central and local administration and foreign partners.
The main fields of activity are mining industry, environmental engineering, quality problems, education and training.GIG is one of the most important partners in such fields as waste management, recycling of raw materials, energy reviews and modernisation of power management in municipalities, optimisation of water supply and sewage disposal systems, environmental monitoring, the Clean Production programme and programmes relating to eco-development of municipalities and regions.
The Central Mining Institute is an EU Notified Body No. 1453, as regards Directives 94/9/EC, 98/37/EC, 93/15/EC. GIG has a comprehensive offer within the field of occupational health and safety.
