Blachownia – modern chemical research

Founded almost sixty years ago, the Blachownia Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis (ICSO) is today a fast-growing R&D centre working for organic chemistry. For the past decades Blachownia has been a reliable partner for domestic and foreign organizations seeking new and improved chemical production and sales solutions. Today Blachownia ranks among Poland’s top research units, best proof of which are the Institute’s numerous publications and patents, including:

§ over 1400 patents (about 60 foreign patents)

§ over 830 technologies successfully applied in industry

§ numerous foreign contracts for technology sales

Equipped with advanced measuring and research apparatus, the Institute carries out surveys and analyses, and also offers consulting, planning and information services. Blachownia’s main fields are:

§ chemical processes involving ion exchange

§ resin and synthetics production technology

§ chemical processes involving renewable raw-materials

§ waste raw-material management

§ PSA gas purifying technologies, hydrogenation, other pressure-involving processes

§ auxiliary processes for industry

§ modern fire-extinguishing means, chemical and ecological rescue means

§ developing analytical methods.

Blachownia collaborates with organizations in Poland and abroad, including scientific-industrial consortia, research networks and EU research programmes. In keeping with customer demand, the technology, solutions, products and services offered by the Institute are regularly upgraded to meet global standards. The Institute holds an ISO 9001:2001 quality management certificate and a Good Laboratory Practice GLP certificate.

Blachownia also lays great weight on developing its specialist staff, among others by investing in young, talented and creative scholars. University graduates, especially in chemistry-related fields, are given a chance for independent growth.

The Institute’s high-class work has won it a number of state awards and distinctions as well as numerous medals at domestic and international technology and inventiveness exhibitions.

The last portion of macroeconomic data for January will be released on Friday when the National Bank of Poland (NBP) is expected to publish balance of payments figures. We estimate that the current account deficit reached EUR580 million while the consensus of the “Parkiet” daily is EUR614 million. We expect that growth in exports slowed slightly in January to 10.9% y/y. We also predict that imports had already made up for last year’s losses and rose by 7.7% y/y in January.
