Very simple VoIP calls

2009-05-11

Gigaset C470 IP is a phone dedicated for fixed network and internet telephony (VoIP).

Changing from IP to fixed network calls is done at the touch of a button. Gigaset IP phone users have access to additional services, including an online phone directory, a weather service and a news service via RSS feed. Thanks to energy-saving power supply units found in the new Gigasets with ECO DECT technology, this phone saves up to 60% more energy compared with conventional Siemens Gigaset cordless phones and their transmitting power can also be variably reduced.

Very simple VoIP calls without a PC

VoIP can easily be adopted by businesses using the Gigaset C470 IP and without having to use a PC. By choosing an IP supplier, the corresponding settings for internet telephony are automatically loaded into the menu and the individual user data is entered using the keypad. Up to six SIP accounts from different providers can be installed. Two VoIP calls and a fixed-line call can be made simultaneously. The Gigaset C470 IP can be used with up to six handsets and thus can be used ideally as a small PBX.

New IP services such as a weather service or the latest news via RSS feed

Together with MeteoGroup, Siemens offers a new weather service with its IP phones: Instead of a screensaver in standby-mode, the phone shows the weather forecast. The weather forecast can be set through the internet site www.gigaset.net/myaccount, for certain cities, like the location of a holiday home for example. Alternatively, the latest news can be received on the display via RSS feed. New emails with sender, time, date and subject information can be also received over an implemented POP3 email engine and without a PC connection.
