Erbud – reliability, punctuality, quality

2009-06-01

Erbud S.A. is one of Poland’s fastest-growing construction groups. The company specializes in infrastructure, industrial, engineering, roadbuilding and housing construction in Poland and other European countries, mainly Germany, France and Belgium. The Erbud Group consists of 12 subsidiaries.

In Poland the company operates through a countrywide network of regional branch offices and two specialised road and engineering units, Rembet Plus and the Road Construction Enterprise (Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych) in Toruń. Foreign projects account for about 20% of the group’s business and growing. Erbud’s foreign operations are conducted by four subsidiaries: Erbud International Sp. z o.o., GWI Bauunternehmung GmbH, Erbud Ireland Ltd and the Erbud branch in Düsseldorf. Responsible for development projects is the Budlex company, which is the leading developer in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie province.

Erbud S.A. is a public company quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It is on the WIG80 index of eighty biggest players on the Warsaw floor and the WIG Budownictwo (Construction) index of construction enterprises.

Erbud owes most of its leverage to quality and punctuality. Thanks to its reputation for reliability the company lands prestigious projects in Poland and abroad. Excellent know-how, highly modern management and a well-tested supplier base make for high returns on projects.

Erbud clients value our professional attitude. The company has won numerous prizes at competitions, including the Business Gazelle 2006 title, a Golden Trowel from the national constructor bi-weekly “Profile” (for “professionalism and reliability”), the Grand Prix in the Pomerania and Kujawy Interior 2005 contest (for a Cinema City multiplex project), and a Pearl of Polish Economy in the Large Pearls category from Polish Market and the Institute of Economics at the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Erbud Group specializes in comprehensive construction projects, including:

· engineering and road construction,

· trade and service centres,

· industrial facilities,

· public utility objects (hospitals, swimming pools, schools, etc),

· office buildings,

· housing (in Poland and abroad).

Erbud’s biggest projects in Poland in recent years were the trade centres Pestka in Poznań (400,000 m3) and Forum in Koszalin (467,000 m3), the District Hospital in Toruń (50,000 m3), the Military Clinic in Bydgoszcz (13,000 m3), the housing developments Olimpia (115,000 m3), Promenada, (250,000 m3), Czerska in Warszaw (135,000 m3), the air terminal in Goleniow, the Pleciuga Theatre in Szczecin, and logistic and depot facilities in Wrocław and Toruń. The company also builds road junctions, game-fields and wind farms.

Major projects in Western Europe include prestigious contracts like the ICE fast-train tunnel from Cologne-Bonn Airport to Cologne, a motorway tunnel in Dortmund, power plants in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, the Pont Sur Sambre and the Futur Terminal Methanier Fos Cavou in France, the Milford Haven gas reload harbour in Wales, a tunnel in Marseilles, a headquarters for the Coca-Cola Company in Ratingen, Germany, and a waste incineration plant in Luxembourg.

Over the past year Erbud Group has steadily pursued its plans to gain more leverage in Western Europe and key parts of Poland, and for this purpose opened several new branches and offices. Following surveys aimed at determining the kind and size of contract that is best for the company today, management at Erbud decided to concentrate on construction projects with guaranteed financing (public utility, infrastructure, etc.).

The anti-crisis measures undertaken by the governments of Western Europe – especially infrastructure development programmes – are expected to boost construction in the West. Erbud’s good standing in Western Europe as well as the company’s experience and good customer references certainly offer a good starting-point for tendering construction projects there in 2009-2010.

Last year the company concentrated mainly on commercial, public utility and infrastructure projects. Domestic sales rose 57.8% from 2007, and EBIT rose 85,7%. Last December in expectation of a rapid rise in domestic road construction in coming years, management opened a road engineering section in Warsaw to coordinate the work of Erbud subsidiaries. Management at Erbud hope construction and roadbuilding prove a worthwhile income source for the Group in coming years.

In its management’s opinion Erbud Group is well-prepared for turbulences on the construction market. The company’s involvement both in and outside Poland gives it the necessary flexibility and allows it to keep profits high without lowering safety. Erbud’s stable finances and strong position in Poland and abroad give it considerable headway against other constructors.
