Tender for A4 motorway section
The Rzeszów-based division of the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA) has announced a tender for the construction of two sections of the A4 Tarnów-Rzeszów highway totaling 64 km: the Krzyż junction - Dębica Pustynia junction section and the Dębica Pustynia junction - Rzeszów Zachodni junction section.
The Krzyż- Dębica Pustynia section of the A-4 Highway will run through the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie Voivodeships. In the Małopolska area the highway runs through the city of Tarnów and the Lisia Góra gmina and in the Podkarpackie area - through the following gminas: Czarna, Żyraków and Dębica.
"Apart from the construction of approximately 34.8 km of the highway, the winner of the tender procedure also will have to construct all facilities required for the highway to function properly. Such facilities include, among others, highway junctions and two-level junctions with crossroads as well as bridges and underpasses for people and animals", a representative of the Directorate told the Polish News Agency.
The other section of the highway being the subject matter of the tender proceedings (the Dębica Pustynia junction - Rzeszów Zachodni junction section) is about 33.6 km long. It runs through the following communes in the Podkarpackie province: Dębica, Ostrów, Sędziszów Małopolski and Świlcza.
Just like in the case of the first section, the winner of the procedure will have to erect the accompanying facilities, among others, eleven viaducts and acoustic screens and to rebuild gas equipment and networks.
The companies submitting the most advantageous bids will have 24 months for building each section.
The construction of the A4 Tarnów-Rzeszów section will be co-financed out of EU funds as part of the Operational Programme "Infrastructure and Environment" and the GDDKiA budget plan.
It is the seventh procedure for the completion of key road investment projects in the Podkarpackie region announced by the Rzeszów-based division of GDDKiA in 2009. Previously tenders were announced for, among others, the construction of the sections of A4 and S19 that are a part of the so-called northern highway Rzeszów bypass and the construction of Jarosław's bypass.
"Until the end of 2009 a tender for the construction of the last section of the A4 highway, namely the Rzeszów- Jarosław one, is planned to be announced", Rarus stated.
The A4 Highway will run from the former border crossing with Germany in Jędrzychowice near Zgorzelec through, among others, Wrocław, Opole, Kraków, Tarnów, Rzeszów until the border crossing with Ukraine in Korczowa. Its total length is approx. 670 km.
