KREDOBANK is the First Choice Bank for Polish - Ukrainian Business
Today KREDOBANK is the biggest Polish investment in the Ukrainian banking area. Poland’s first-rate bank PKO BP S.A. holds 99.5% shares in the Ukrainian bank”, Danuta Sikora, Member of the Board of KREDOBANK tells “Polish Market’s” Andrzej Jodłowski.
Could you, give us some details about KREDOBANK’s work?
- Today KREDOBANK is one of the most powerful and biggest financial institutions of the Western region of Ukraine. It is among “thirty biggest banks of Ukraine” (according to the National Bank of Ukraine ranking). KREDOBANK is a full-service commercial bank, its offers a wide range of banking products and services to both retail and corporate clients. KREDOBANK actively provides services for export-import operations, credit operations, operations with securities and clients’ funds. It should be pointed out that KREDOBANK occupies the 23rd place in terms of capital formation from clients and the 29th place in terms of the amount of issued credits among 187 banks of Ukraine.
What do you think are the reasons for the bank’s remarkable results?
- KREDOBANK has reached such a big success due to the introduction of European quality standards of services, new banking technologies and products. KREDOBANK’s advantages are its prompt reaction to market changes, dynamic expansion and improvement of the range of financial services range as clients’ needs develop. This is because KREDOBANK focuses on building not just mutually beneficial, but also long-lasting business relations with clients. This fact is also confirmed by the leading financial analysts. According to the annual rating of the information transparency, conducted by the Standard & Poor international rating agency and the Agency for Financial Initiatives, KREDOBANK occupies the fourth place among 30 biggest banks of the country in terms of informational transparency and openness to clients and partners.
How do you evaluate KREDOBANK’s work in the first half of such a hard year 2009?
- This year, KREDOBANK has been focusing on such main directions as minimising the impact of the financial crisis on the bank and its clients and improving the credit briefcase. Due to the support of the strategic shareholder PKO Bank Polski S.A., KREDOBANK has enlarged the authorised capital by nearly three times. KREDOBANK has carried out a restructuring programme. These changes will allow the Bank to improve the credit portfolio and reduce the amount of reserves. Last year, KREDOBANK proved to its clients that is a reliable partner which fulfills its engagements without any restrictions. Thus, the most important task of the bank this year is to provide its partners the feeling of confidence and security. Besides, the bank is actively working with credit liabilities and helps its clients to overcome difficulties connected with repayment which have appeared during the financial crises.
What market position does KREDOBANK occupy in the Ukraine banking area today?
- According to a rating by the National Bank of Ukraine, as of the July 1, 2009 KREDOBANK occupies the 30th place when it comes to the value of net assets and 14th place in terms of the value of authorized capital among 187 Ukrainian banking institutions.
It should also be emphasised that despite the macro-economic situation, KREDOBANK has enlarged the amount of clients and since last April the Bank has enjoyed a stable growth of deposits. This also shows clients’ confidence in Bank’s reliability, even at such not simple times for financial institutions.
Also, as the results of Q2 2009 show, according to estimates by leading experts of investment companies such as Astrum Investment Management, Bonum Group, Concorde Capital and others, KREDOBANK entered the Top 10 in the rating of Ukrainian banks for reliability of the deposit. It occupies the 7th place with an overall "stable" rating.
We know that PKO BP considers KREDOBANK to be a strategic investment in Ukraine. Could you name more investment directions that are interesting for Polish companies in Ukraine?
- The main and the most promising investment directions in Ukraine for Polish companies are banking and insurance, woodworking industry, furniture production, sanitary engineering, agriculture, building sector, and production of building materials. The biggest investment spheres for Ukrainian enterprises in Poland are motor-car construction, metallurgy and shipbuilding. In the Western part of Ukraine, Polish investors have made great investments in banking, agriculture, production of furniture and building materials.
KPEDOBANK wants to improve the quality of banking services for Polish-Ukrainian business. That’s why at the beginning of year 2009 it created the Polish-Ukrainian business department.
What are the primary tasks of the Polish-Ukrainian business department at KREDOBANK?
- The main task of this department is to support the activity of Ukrainian enterprises created by Polish capital, to support investment activities of Ukrainian companies in Poland, and to provide trade operations between Polish and Ukrainian partners. The Department also offers enterprises individually selected decisions and information, necessary for investment in Ukraine.
