IPB wins Polish Business Leader title

The Grand Gala of Polish Business Leaders, organised by Business Centre Club, the largest organisation of business people in Poland, was held at Wielki Theatre on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Nominations for the Polish Business Leader title were awarded during the official part of the event.

Among the laureates who received Polish Business Leader Golden Statuettes was the Iławskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane Sp. z o.o. (IPB) construction company and its President Eugeniusz Jaremko.

Eugeniusz Jaremko, President of Iławskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane Sp. z o.o. (IPB) based in the city of Iława, northern Poland, talks to “Polish Market”.

Q: For how long has IPB operated on the market?
A: IPB has been present on the market for over 40 years now. The crucial year for IPB was 1991 when it became the first construction company in the former Olsztyn province to be privatised. Thanks to this move, we were able to survive the most difficult period, when the construction market collapsed, and adjust the company’s structure to the requirements of market economy. Today, IPB is steadily expanding. We operate in the region of Warmia and Mazuria, and in Pomorskie and Mazowieckie provinces, but in the past we also carried out foreign contracts in the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia, Latvia and Germany. However, Warmia and Mazuria is were we have constructed the largest number of buildings and structures. We have created the look for many cities in the region. Our activities earned us the prestigious title of the Construction Leader of Warmia and Mazuria. We are trying hard to keep this position.
Q: What is the company’s field of activity?
A: We provide comprehensive construction and assembly services, conduct development activity and sell building materials. Development activity is our core business now. But we carry out not just residential projects. We also build industrial facilities, sports halls, banks, hospitals, hotels, swimming pools and wellness centres. Of late we have become specialised in difficult construction projects – projects with short deadlines and high investor requirements. Some of them are quite a challenge to us and turn into our showpieces.
Q: You have received the Polish Business Leader 2009 statuette for your effective expansion policy, successful competition on the difficult market and presence in the life of the local community. Can you comment on that?
A: The fact that the jury selected me to join the elite group of winners, including such brands as Żywiec Zdrój, Orlen and PGNiG, is a great honour and satisfaction for me and my staff. I am happy that, despite the economic slowdown, our company continues to expand, invest and compete successfully in such a difficult sector as construction. Apart from economic aspects, the jury also appreciated our openness to the local community and people’s needs. For years, we have supported any kind of initiatives designed to help the needy and have taken an active part in the social and cultural life of Warmia and Mazuria.
Q: The last time a company based in Warmia and Mazuria received a Polish Business Leader statuette was 14 years ago. This probably makes the award even more important to you.
A: Every year we take part in prestigious competitions to undergo evaluation by independent experts. As a result, we know how we compare against our rivals. In the case of the Polish Business Leader competition, IPB was subject to comprehensive evaluation. This is why this award is of special importance to us – it considerably strengthens our image and proves that we have chosen the right direction in our activity. It raises our company’s credibility and builds our competitive advantage on the market. Today, we are not only the undisputable Construction Leader of Warmia and Mazuria but also a Polish Business Leader.
