Polish Film Awards: Eagles 2010
A gala of Eagles 2010 Polish Film Awards was held in Warsaw on March 1. The winners were picked in 14 categories by over 500 members of the Polish Film Academy (PAF).
‘Reverse’ by newcomer Borys Lankosz, a dark comedy about Stalinism in Poland, won the best Polish movie award, as well as the best leading actress, best supporting actress, best screenplay, best music awards. Wojciech Smarzowski, director of ‘The Dark House’, an even darker thriller set during martial law in Poland in 1982, won the prize in the best director category. Jerzy Stefan Stawiński, screenwriter of Andrzej Wajda’s 1950s wartime classic ‘Canal’, was awarded for his lifetime achievements. In the February issue, the ‘Los Angeles Magazine’ listed the Polish Film Award among the most significant film awards in the world. MP/SJ/RK
