Leading Polish, Chinese insurance brokers meet
Representatives of leading Polish insurance companies discussed cooperation opportunities with their Chinese partners at an EXPO 2010 sideline event in Shanghai on July 21. The seminar presenting the potential of the Polish insurance sector was organised by the Office of the Commissioner General of the Polish Section at EXPO 2010 in cooperation with the Polish Insurance Chamber and the Commerce and Investment Promotion Department of the Polish Consulate General in Shanghai.
“We witnessed a historic event at the Polish Pavilion in Shanghai. Presidents of companies representing 60% of the potential of the Polish insurance market arrived here to meet representatives of the managing staff of big Chinese insurance brokers at the seminar. It is the first step to cooperation and we hope that it will have capital-related results for the Polish insurance sector” said Sławomir Majman, Commissioner General of the Polish Section of EXPO 2010.
Jan Grzegorz Prądzyński, President of the Polish Insurance Chamber, Andrzej Klesyk, President of PZU Group, Paweł Dangel - President of Allianz Poland, Ryszard Bociong, President of Axa Direct and Grzegorz Szatkowski, Vice-President of Ergo Hestia represented Poland at the meeting.
“Poland is a country where the potential of the insurance sector is still big. We are also a window on Europe” Jan Grzegorz Prądzyński, President of the Polish Insurance Chamber, explained to the Chinese partners during the presentation. “Poland is an attractive place for China to start its European operations in the insurance market. It was a very interesting meeting. Let me remind you that Chinese companies of various branches are entering the Polish market at present. Chinese insurance brokers will certainly enter Poland following the Chinese industry” argued Jan Grzegorz Prądzyński.
The visit of representatives of Chinese insurance companies was coordinated by the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Polish Consulate General in Shanghai. Its chairman, Counsellor Andrzej Pieczonka, believes that the meeting may mark the start of a long-term cooperation. “It is the next very good stimulus. We succeeded in presenting Poland as a very good market for Chinese financial investors” Andrzej Pieczonka said. (PAIiIZ/RK)
